What happens if you miss a HSC exam? Good morning. This is Jason Ursino from Learning Space and I'm driving to school.
Today I'm going to be talking about what happens if you miss a HSC exam. It could be because you were sick or it could be because you had a small car accident on the way or it could be because you simply slept in.
So what happens if you have missed a HSC exam? So we have this procedure with NESA, it's called Illness Misadventure and the whole idea is that you need to provide evidence. That's the big thing. So if you had a small car accident on the way to your exam, get your phone out and start taking photos of what happened.
The more evidence you have, the more chance that you will be okay. If you are sick and you get a medical certificate, just make sure that the medical certificate is not a generic one. Make sure that it's a little bit more specific as to why you can't come to the exam because it's not really your school that looks at these illness misadventures.
It's the NESA body. So we need to make sure that it is correct, up to date and also has the specific evidence. You should have had a little bit of practice with this because schools should follow the same sort of procedure for all of Year 11 and Year 12 with Illness Misadventure and any assessment.
It is up to the school's discretion a little bit if it depends on the situation and you do it case by case, but generally speaking we follow the same sort of procedure as it would for the HSC exams. Some schools even do it before Year 11, Year 10 or even from Year 7.
So if you ever miss an exam in the HSC, make sure you collect as much evidence as possible. And the other thing is that you want to tell someone at school, usually someone like the principal or the deputy or the head of curriculum, let them know, don't keep it a secret.
There has been some horror stories where something has happened and they got someone to come and pick them up. So they're on their way to the exam and they had a small accident. They didn't take any photos.
They didn't tell anyone. Someone just came and picked them up or took the car to the mechanics, got it sorted and they thought, I'll sort out the HSC later and they were in big trouble. So make sure that at the instance, tell someone, call the school, take photos, make sure you get as much evidence as possible so that way you can justify why you missed the exam.
The whole idea is that you want a good reason to why you missed the exam and you want to be able to back it up with evidence. If you like my videos, there are more of them at learningspace.net.au/drivingtoschool and have a good day.
